The Delights of Christmas (in July)…

What time of year do you begin creating for Christmas?
I've had Christmas themes, carols, memories and decorating filling my mind lately, as I'm in "Christmas design" mode.
I recently received a wonderful parcel in the mail from Sarah of Quilt Fabric Delights.
It was filled with an assortment of lovely "Christmassy" fat quarters and thread for me to play with! The best kind of mail don't you think?
I'm pretty excited, as Sarah has invited me to participate in their Christmas In July event this year!

These gorgeous fabrics are from the Jovial range, designed by BasicGrey for Moda.
As you've probably noticed, I tend to lean towards soft, muted tones for the majority of my designs.
But aren't these colours fun? So bright and happy… which is exactly how Christmas should feel.

It's been great to work with something a little outside of my usual selection.
In fact, I'm growing really fond of these and have found it quite difficult to begin cutting!
I especially love the novelty print with the baubles and pointsettia. It has so much variety. Great for fussy cutting!

The thread I'll be stitching with is stranded Snapdragon, hand dyed in Australia by Cottage Garden Threads.
The CGT girls create the most beautiful colour combinations!

I'll keep you updated with a few sneak peeks as I stitch.
and will let you know the details of how you can participate in Christmas In July at Quilt Fabric Delights too.
facebook page?  I tend to update over there a little more frequently with photos, new stockists and interesting links. Come on over to say hello. : )
Until then,

  2. Hi Amanda,
I've really enjoyed your photos of Inspired Stitches. What a wonderful, fun weekend you all have had. I look forward to seeing your finished piece too. I found it quite difficult to decide on one design to stitch. ~ Melissa

  3. Oh, boy! Something new to look forward to! I don’t do facebook, so I’ll just have to be satisfied with what you do post on your blog. Blogging keeps me plenty distracted enough!! ~karen

My 10 year old son who is quite arty, loves colours and wants to be an architect when he grows up told me he wanted our Christmas theme to feature blue this year (I try and change it every year) so this fabric will be perfect as I was struggling a bit with blue. Love to see what you come up with!
