REQUIREMENTS AS LISTED ON THE PATTERN COVER
Fabric Required
– Beige Fine-Linen (must be able to see through it with a light box to trace design) – 40cm (15″) x width of fabric – background of bird panels
6 green fabrics are used in total, 2 for piecing only and 4 for piecing and applique.
– 2 Medium-toned Green Fabrics – 1 Fat Sixteenth of each – for patchwork
– 2 Darker-toned Green Fabrics (1 slightly lighter than the other) – 1 Fat Eighth of each – for patchwork and leaves
– 1 Fat Eighth of Plain (or slight pattern) Medium-toned Green Fabric – for patchwork piecing and bird applique
– 1 Fat Eighth Lighter-toned Green Fabric – for patchwork piecing and flowers
– Backing Fabric – 50cm (18″) x width of fabric – for backing the table runner
– Thin Batting/Wadding – 50cm (18″) x 110cm (42″) – for backing the table runner
– Fusible stabiliser – 40cm (15″) x width of fabric – backing bird panels (two x 12″x 18″)
– Fusible Webbing (Heat N Bond – Lite would best suit this project) – 15cm (6″) x 30cm (12″) piece – for double-sided fabric flowers
– Freezer Paper – 50cm (20″) of 38cm (15″) width – for applique and flowers
Embroidery Thread Required
– 1 skein of stranded, variegated thread – for “bird panel” branch stitchery
– 1 skein of Grey stranded cotton – for “birds’ eyes, beaks and body detail. I have used DMC 844
– 1 skein of Ecru stranded cotton – for attaching flowers
Notions Required
– An erasable fabric marker – some lines will need to be erased
– 16 small shell buttons (8-10mm) – to embellish central patchwork
– Thread suited to needleturn applique
– General sewing supplies
