Out and About…

The past couple of months have been super social… especially for a home body like myself.

Late February, I spent a lovely weekend at the Rotary Quilt Exhibition (a part of The Knox Art Show) in Bayswater. The variety of work on display was wonderful. Equally wonderful was the chatting, stitching, sharing techniques and meeting other creative folk in the local community. Unfortunately photography of the quilts wasn’t permitted, but this was my display for the weekend.

Just a weekend or 3 after, I was able to be a part of Libby Richardson’s Girls Day Out event, which just happened to be in the same hall. There was a huge amount of preparation for the weekend. Libby works for months organising, planning and designing to ensure it all runs well… and it did! We all had a great time!

There were projects aplenty! A “welcome sign” and “hanging hearts” designed by Libby Richardson of Artsmart Craft Cottage.

My projects for the event were “From the Fields ~ Organiser” with double-sided fabric daisies and forget-me-nots and “Roses and Ruching ~ Pincushion”, with dimensional roses and embroidered tag. (This month I’ve restitched them in Tilda fabrics and have just added them to my pattern range. You can find more photos and details of the organiser HERE. And photos and details of the pincushion HERE.

The hall was filled with a collection of our designs and tables decorated with roses and doilies. Marilyn of The Patchwork Tea House had a pop up store with fabric, kits and all those stitching essentials. Jen from Embellish A Little also had her range of buttons and kits available. We spent the day demonstrating techniques used in our designs, chatting and sharing stories over an abundance of stitching and painting.

A special highlight of the weekend was Beck bringing her finished Doily for Bessie to show me. I love the variegated thread and lace edge. Really beautiful! And its always a thrill to see that someone has taken the time to stitch something I designed.

I really loved Girls Day Out. I want to send out a very big thank you to Libby for inviting me as a guest. Were you there? Maybe you can spot yourself in the following slideshow…

I’ll be back soon to share a little about AQC and my latest designs.
