Some of you may remember some sneak peeks of this festive wall hanging that I shared back in July. This One Day In May pattern was available as an early release for those participating in Christmas In July at Quilt Fabric Delights.
Well, the time has come to make it available for general release.
This is one of my favourite projects for 2012 and is just the thing for beginning the Christmas season.
I had imagined this little dove and nest for quite a while, and loved bringing them to "life".
Introducing "The Joy of Christmas".
“Bless our hearts and home with the joy of Christmas”
"The Joy of Christmas" is a 20" square wall hanging.
This design combines embroidery, patchwork and lovely dimensional detail.
The central panel features a nesting, appliquéd dove with dimensional wing and tail.
Her nest is also appliquéd and has added textural detail, achieved with the attachment of household string.
This little bird has decorated her home for Christmas with semi-detached felt holly leaves and berries and a scattering of dainty gold bells.
I've used two of my favourite variegated cottons from Cottage Garden Threads to embroider the leaf-curls and script.
Being a big fan of French General fabrics, I decided to use one of their charm packs for the two borders.
( I have a few leftover squares and have them tucked away for another special project I'm working on.)
Requirement details and cutting instructions are also given in the pattern for those not wishing to use a charm pack.
